The first thing to know is that as of January 1st, 2009, changes to the Energy Efficiency Act outline that every window manufactured in BC will have a U-Value rating of 2.0 or better. The U-Value is similar to the R rating in a wall. Thermoproof windows meet and exceed these standards.

The first decision has to do with the type of frame that fits your project. For new construction the choice is easy. A Nail-On frame is best for you. Although a Nail-On is sometimes used in a renovation project, most prefer to use the Renovation frame as it can often fit right over your existing frame. You receive the energy efficiency benefits, with less disruption to your home.

The next decisions you will have to make include the design and choice of glass for your windows. Does the window need to be used for egress? These decisions can be made easier with help from one of our dealers. They can help you choose the right glass, and the right window whether it’s a slider, casement, picture or a custom design.
